ASK OUR PRODUCT MANAGER

Question: How can I make the same election for multiple clients?

Answer: There are two ways:

  1. Import answers from a previously completed election that has been saved to a Checkpoint folder.
    • Open the Election document by either drilling down in the Table of Contents or by linking into it from a Key Issue.
(TIP: You might want to Flag the election document so you can easily access it for multiple clients.)
    • Flagged
    • Click Launch Election and answer all the interview-type questions for the first client. When done, click Finish at the bottom right. Then, in the Interview Complete dialog box, click Save Answers to a Folder. Follow the prompts to save the first client’s election.
    • Save answers to a Folder
    • Access that same election statement. If you used the TIP above, hover on Flagged in the orange toolbar to quickly do this.
    • Click Launch Election, then click the Import from a Saved Item in a Folder icon in the upper right.
    • Import from a Saved Item in a Folder
    • Click on the election from the first client to import that information. Use the Interview Outline on the left to navigate to the questions you need to change for the second client, like Taxpayer Information. When done, click Finish at the bottom right and Save answers to a Folder.
  2. Export the first election to Word and make the changes within the Word environment:
    • Access the Election document by either drilling down in the Table of Contents or by linking into it from a Key Issue.
    • Click Launch Election and answer all the interview-type questions for the first client. When done, click the Export Document icon in the upper right.
    • Export to RTF
    • Follow the prompts to Export to RTF (which will create a Word document). From your computer, open the document in Word, change the unique taxpayer information and any other answers to specific questions as necessary.
