Import Tasks - Overview

Quick Start

  • The datafile location path defaults to C:\Importfiles directory. You may also browse to a different File location.
  • The directory path is not case sensitive.
  • An excel spreadsheet file (.xls) must be present in the directory.

  • This option is to import client form data.

Specifications

Import Task:

  • Use only one tax form for each import task.
  • You can choose to include Multiple Copies of One Form per Client, One Row per Client or One Worksheet per Client.
  • You can use multiple datafiles for multiple clients.
  • You can use multiple clients for multiple datafiles.
  • Inconsistent data in datafiles can result in the transference of incorrect data to forms.
  • Verify all data is in the same location in each datafile.
  • One map is used for each import task.

Datafile:

  • A datafile name must not contain any of the following 8 characters: pound sign, asterisk, at sign, quotes, forward slash, backward slash, comma, or period (# * @ " / \ , .).
  • The first row of data can be a header row.
  • Each excel sheet can be either one worksheet per client or one row per client, or multiple copies of 1 form per client.
  • The following restrictions apply to datafiles:
    • No more than 256 columns
    • No more than 65,536 rows
    • No more than 80 characters in a cell
