Assigning/Changing/Removing a Preparer

From My Clients screen, you can assign a preparer to client while creating or editing the Client Profile. When a preparer is assigned to a client, the preparer information automatically carries into the appropriate fields on forms that are saved in the client record. Further, you can change or remove preparers previously assigned to a client.

Note: Default Preparer information carries into forms opened from the Form List. Forms added to a client will use the preparer information currently assigned to that client.

To assign a Preparer to a Client:

  1. Click My Clients under the Clients menu.
    The My Clients screen is displayed with a list of your existing clients.
  2. Select a client from the list, and click Edit Client from the top toolbar.
  3. The Edit Client screen is displayed with the client's Personal Information form.
  4. Scroll down to the Select Preparer section at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Select the required preparer using the Preparer drop-down list.
  6. Click Save Changes from the top toolbar.
    The preparer will be added to the selected client.

    Note: You can also Select a Default Preparer for your account that will automatically be assigned to any new client profiles. Users must be granted the Add/Edit/Delete Preparer Info right to perform this task. Default Preparer is an account level selection.

To change an Assigned Preparer:

  1. On My Clients screen, select the required client from the displayed list.
  2. Click Edit Client from the top toolbar.
  3. The Edit Client screen is displayed with the client's Personal Information form.
  4. Scroll down to the Select Preparer section at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Select a different preparer from the Preparer drop-down list.
  6. Click Save Changes from the top-toolbar.
    The assigned preparer will now be updated to reflect the preparer you selected. The client's forms will be updated with the new preparer information only when displayed.

To remove an Assigned Preparer:

  1. On My Clients screen, select the required client from the displayed list.
  2. Click Edit Client from the top toolbar.
  3. The Edit Client screen is displayed with the client's Personal Information form.
  4. Scroll down to the Select Preparer section at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Select No Preparer from the Preparer drop-down list.
  6. Click Save Changes from the top toolbar.
